Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Walter Vargas (ranked 3751 p4p, 4779 weight class) and Ekon Odogwu (ranked 404 p4p, 461 weight class). Vargas comes to the cage accompanied by Long Runs the Fox. Odogwu has chosen Lucky Man - The Verve as his entrance music. Ekon Odogwu is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Odogwu working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Odogwu in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Odogwu thows a huge punch but Vargas dodges it nicely.

Vargas is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Odogwu looking to take Vargas's back but Vargas rolls and after a scramble, Vargas ends up on top in guard. Nice escape there from Vargas to escape a tricky position.

Ekon Odogwu dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Odogwu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vargas tries to avoid it but Odogwu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vargas to the ground. Vargas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

It looks like Ekon Odogwu has been cut.
Vargas is pawing at Odogwu, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Odogwu's nose. Odogwu is badly hurt! Vargas pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Odogwu tries desperately to hold on but Vargas is relentless in his assault! As Odogwu receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Vargas away and this one is in the books!
