PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kulata Bitok (ranked 24006 p4p, 24528 weight class) and Krzysztof Zakrzewski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 59 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Krzysztof Zakrzewski!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bitok avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bitok throws a quick counter kick to the body but Zakrzewski avoids it.
Zakrzewski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bitok circles away.
Zakrzewski fails in his attempt to clinch.

Kulata Bitok has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Krzysztof Zakrzewski.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Zakrzewski enables Bitok to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Zakrzewski manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zakrzewski can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bitok controls the pace.
Zakrzewski looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bitok is one step ahead there.

Zakrzewski is trying to keep Bitok in close.
Bitok controlling from the top position.
Bitok seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Zakrzewski for as long as he can get away with.
Zakrzewski wants to stand and escape but Bitok is having none of it.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bitok won't allow Zakrzewski to sweep him here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Zakrzewski misses with the combination.
Zakrzewski is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Bitok half committed to a counter leg kick.
No luck for Zakrzewski with that takedown attempt.

Bitok jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Bitok connects with a couple of short punches.
Bitok is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Zakrzewski tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Zakrzewski shoots for a double leg takedown but Bitok sprawls well. He's pushed Zakrzewski's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bitok throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Zakrzewski tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bitok is in Zakrzewski's guard.
Bitok is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Bitok looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

and Bitok finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Bitok is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Zakrzewski can do to turn this around?

Bitok has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Zakrzewski wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Bitok is now in half guard.

Bitok looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Bitok knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zakrzewski on the ground.

Zakrzewski is trying to escape back to his feet but Bitok uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Zakrzewski regains half guard.
Bitok takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bitok throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Zakrzewski tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bitok is looking to counter with a body kick.
Zakrzewski fails with a takedown attempt.
Kulata Bitok has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Krzysztof Zakrzewski.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bitok throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zakrzewski was covering up waiting for the punch and Bitok finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Zakrzewski seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bitok wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zakrzewski keeps working.

Zakrzewski takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Zakrzewski tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bitok paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bitok seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Zakrzewski shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bitok as he avoids it easily.
Bitok throws a quick counter kick to the body but Zakrzewski avoids it.

Bitok closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Bitok is controlling the pace.
Bitok lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Zakrzewski is trying to maintain the position but Bitok is very close to passing his half guard.

Bitok seems to be working for a kimura but Zakrzewski defends the submission attempt.

Bitok keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Bitok prevents Zakrzewski from improving his position.
Kulata Bitok is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Zakrzewski tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Bitok has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Well Bitok has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
