Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tapani Kangas (ranked 2754 p4p, 2563 weight class) and Roberto Soldic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Soldic has chosen The Impression That I Get as his entrance music. Tapani Kangas is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Tapani Kangas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roberto Soldic!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Kangas tenderised Soldic's leg. Soldic is trying to keep his angry face on.
Kangas works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Kangas just misses with a punch to the body.
A bone on bone clash there as Soldic blocks the leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kangas. Soldic does a little dance to reset his feet.

Soldic darts in and clinches Kangas up against the cage.
Kangas goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Soldic lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Kangas fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

We've been informed that Soldic has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Soldic jumps guard but Kangas stands there with Soldic around his waist. Soldic gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd cheers as Kangas lands an impressive looking overhand right. Soldic doesn't seem phased though.

Tapani Kangas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Soldic takes a shot to the body in his stride.

and Kangas takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The fighters circling - Kangas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kangas misses with a low kick as Soldic jumps back.

Kangas scores with a hook to the body. Soldic takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Soldic tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kangas swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kangas swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
A nice inside leg kick there by Kangas. That's going to slow Soldic down.

Soldic gets control of Kangas's arms and successfully pulls guard. Soldic will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kangas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Soldic is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Kangas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Soldic has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kangas has managed to get both his arms back between Soldic's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soldic is pulling down on Kangas's head to control his posture.
Kangas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soldic swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Soldic tries to close the distance and clinch but Kangas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kangas throws a head kick but Soldic moves out of range.

and Kangas counters with a nice body shot.
Soldic tries to clinch but Kangas is having none of it.
Kangas thumps Soldic with a low kick.

That's time! Kangas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Soldic had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kangas defends it easily.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kangas, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
