PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tatu Kurri (ranked 3016 p4p, 23955 weight class) and Yawa Kiang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Yawa Kiang was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 23 - 0, fighting out of London, Tatu Kurri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 59 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kurri throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kiang tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kurri is in Kiang's guard.

Kurri controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kurri advances to half guard.
Kurri slows the pace down in half guard.
Kiang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kurri. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kurri uses his free foot to push down on Kiang's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kiang.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kurri seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kiang for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kurri throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Kiang has his hands clasped together but Kurri breaks the hold and Kiang is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Kurri!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tatu Kurri!
A relieved looking Tatu Kurri thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
