And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 5 losses; Tommy Reed!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
McCain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

McCain closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
McCain stops a takedown attempt from Reed.

Reed lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reed is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McCain defends it well.

McCain is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Reed's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Reed's back!

Reed tries to control McCain's body but McCain pushes him off. Reed squirms to his side and now McCain has his back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCain slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Reed rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
We've been hearing good reports from McCain's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Reed actively working from the bottom here.
Reed is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McCain looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Reed manages to get to full guard.

Reed has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. McCain is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Reed.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Reed sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McCain in particular looking to stall.
Reed is pressing down on McCain's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
McCain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reed swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McCain is fighting to break Reed's control of his arms but Reed is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
McCain wants to pass the guard but Reed is keeping the position.
McCain is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

McCain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Reed has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think McCain should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Reed has tightened it up now! McCain should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
