Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Peterson (ranked 3779 p4p, 22382 weight class) and Cohen Hawthorne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson comes to the cage accompanied by Berzerk by Eminem. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 34 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cohen Hawthorne!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawthorne dodges the punch combination from Peterson.
Peterson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hawthorne avoids it really well and circles away.
Hawthorne dives in for a single leg takedown but Peterson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Jake Peterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Peterson looks to land a combination but Hawthorne avoids it well.
Hawthorne lands with a good body shot.

Peterson clinches up with Hawthorne and pushes him back against the cage.
Peterson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Peterson.

Hawthorne manages to break the clinch.
Hawthorne fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Peterson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hawthorne jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Peterson walks away with a smile on his face. Hawthorne gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

A little jabbing left from Hawthorne on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Hawthorne shoots in looking for a takedown but Peterson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hawthorne's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Hawthorne wants to counter with a clinch but Peterson pushes him away.
Hawthorne has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hawthorne or perhaps it was just good defense by Peterson, which made it look bad.
Hawthorne shoots in for a double leg but Peterson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Peterson looks to throw the jab but Hawthorne is out of range.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hawthorne moves into range and clinches up with Peterson.
Hawthorne digs a right hand underneath Peterson's ribcage. Peterson let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Peterson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hawthorne pulls his leg out and moves away.
Hawthorne misses with a takedown attempt - Peterson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hawthorne fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Peterson avoids it really well and circles away.

Hawthorne shoots for a double leg takedown but Peterson sprawls well. He's pushed Hawthorne's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
No joy there for Peterson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nice takedown defense from Peterson. No joy for Hawthorne on that attempt.
Peterson goes for a double leg but Hawthorne avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hawthorne continues to drive forward.

Peterson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hawthorne forces Peterson back against the cage and clinches.

Hawthorne is fighting off a takedown attempt but Peterson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hawthorne to the mat. Hawthorne regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Hawthorne seems keen to control Peterson's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hawthorne is on top in guard.

Hawthorne slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Hawthorne prevents Peterson from getting back to his feet.
Peterson wants to improve his position but instead Hawthorne has moved into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hawthorne is taking a breather. Peterson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Peterson is trying to get back to full guard.
Hawthorne looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Hawthorne is looking for a kimura but Peterson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hawthorne to get the leverage.
Peterson is looking to control Hawthorne's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Peterson avoid being mounted?
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jake Peterson will probably get the nod.

That's time! Peterson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hawthorne feints and then cracks Peterson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Peterson down.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hawthorne is trying to control the action in half guard but Peterson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Peterson wants to improve his position but Hawthorne is controlling well.

Peterson is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Hawthorne has latched onto it... Big trouble! Hawthorne pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Peterson is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Hawthorne!
