This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 4 losses; Kenji Matsuda! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 7 losses; Young Blood!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.

Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.

Blood jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Matsuda walks away with a smile on his face. Blood gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Blood doesn't manage to clinch there - Matsuda circles away.

Blood is desperately trying to improve his position but Matsuda has a good base and remains in mount.

What can Blood do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Blood is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Matsuda.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Matsuda has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Blood is really stuck here.

Matsuda has the hooks in. Blood is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Matsuda's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
