Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chain Gables (ranked 3938 p4p, 3939 weight class) and Luc Taker (ranked 0 p4p, 255 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chain Gables!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Luc Taker!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taker shoots in and bounces Gables off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gables throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Taker pushing down on Gables's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Taker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Taker prevents Gables from improving his position.

Gables looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gables actively working from the bottom here.
Gables has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Taker is working away from the top position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gables throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Taker wants to take a breather but Gables is having none of it.
Taker is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Taker is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gables manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gables looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Taker trying to control the position from guard on top but Gables is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Taker shoots in looking for a takedown. Gables tries to sprawl out of it but Taker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gables manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gables is looking to counter punch.

Taker fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gables sprawls well initially but Taker persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Gables tries to kick Taker off but Taker keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Gables trying to control here.

Taker is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gables doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Taker.
Taker wants to take a breather but Gables is having none of it.
Gables controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Gables regains full guard. Nicely done.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gables is looking to sweep but instead, Taker has passed into half guard.
Taker trying to mount his opponent but Gables defends it.
Taker tries to stand but can't do so whilst Gables controls his leg.
Gables has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Taker is working away from the top position though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gables wants to get back to full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Luc Taker dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Gables shoots in and drives through. Taker sprawls well.
Gables tries to close the distance and clinch but Taker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Chain Gables is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Taker moves into the clinch successfully.
Gables has Taker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Taker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Taker is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gables pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Taker is stalling here.

Gables tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Taker smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chain Gables. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Taker closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gables quickly recovers to half guard.
Gables pushes Taker off but Taker dives into side control.

Gables is looking to reverse the position.
Taker happy to just control the position for now.
Taker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Taker tries to advance to mount but Gables denies him.
Gables gets back to half guard.
Gables wants to control but Taker is keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gables on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Taker is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gables is trying to control but can't.
Gables throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Gables moves into full guard.
Gables wants to sweep but no luck.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Taker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Taker prevents Gables from getting back to his feet.
Taker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gables swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Taker stays in close to Gables's body and controls the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gables blocks a low kick nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gables looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Gables goes for a double leg but Taker avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Taker continues to drive forward.

Taker gets control of Gables's arms and successfully pulls guard. Taker will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Taker wants to stand but Gables is controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gables wants to control from the top but Taker keeps moving.
Taker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gables makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gables.

Gables has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Taker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Taker wants to stand and escape but instead Gables has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Luc Taker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Taker shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gables napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
You can see the frustration on Gables's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Taker trying to control the position but Gables is working away.

Gables tries to buck Taker off but Taker is having none of it.

Taker trying to control the action but Gables is working from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Taker is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Taker scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Taker is looking to take a break and control but Gables is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gables shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Taker but Taker pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Gables misses with the combination.
No joy there for Gables, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gables throws a head kick but Taker moves out of range.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Taker tries to clinch there but Gables circles away.
Gables shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Taker as he avoids it easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Taker.
Taker is looking to take a break and control but Gables is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gables is looking for a sweep.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Taker looks up at the clock and then as Gables takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Taker smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Taker lands a decent elbow from side control.
Chain Gables has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Luc Taker is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Luc Taker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Taker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
