PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chike Obi (ranked 1729 p4p, 2700 weight class) and Joey Chandler (ranked 186 p4p, 263 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Obi looks to clinch
and Chandler counters with a stiff right hand.
Obi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Chandler.
Obi pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Chandler misses with a body shot.
Chandler throws a series of strikes that have Obi backpedaling.
Obi swings for the body but Chandler moves out of range.
Obi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chandler manages to avoid it.
Chandler moves away from the strike by Obi.
Chandler misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Obi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sloppy strikes from Chandler. Those never looked like landing.
Obi scores with a nice head shot.
Joey Chandler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chandler takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Chandler fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Obi to the ground. Chandler is now in Obi's guard.

Obi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chandler doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Obi is tightening it up a little... Chandler has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Chandler reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Chandler taps out! Nice BJJ there by Obi!
