Anderson comes to the cage accompanied by Pick up man. Sparky Anderson has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Maldita sprawls well. Maldita wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Anderson gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Anderson.
Maldita throws out a counter right but Anderson avoids it with no problem.
Anderson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Maldita.
A looping hook to the body misses from Maldita. Anderson does a little dance to reset his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maldita throws a hook to the side of Anderson's head but Anderson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Maldita felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Anderson is controlling the pace.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Maldita can do anything to dispel that myth.

Anderson is looking for a kimura here.
Maldita really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Anderson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Anderson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Maldita sees it coming and defends easily.

Anderson is keen to just control but Maldita is a slippery customer.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Anderson jabs Maldita right on the nose. Maldita blinks but takes it well.
Anderson lands with an uppercut that bounces Maldita off the cage and back into range.

That was a close round but I would say that Sparky Anderson will probably get the nod.

A nice side step and Maldita releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Maldita feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Andersons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Velha Maldita seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Maldita counters with a nice uppercut.

and Maldita connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Maldita swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Oh Anderson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Maldita stuffs the takedown.
Anderson seems to have got his legs back now.
Maldita keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

and Anderson counters with a single leg into guard. Maldita didn't expect that.
Maldita wants to get back to his feet but Anderson passes into half guard.

Anderson is looking to advance position but Maldita won't allow it.

Maldita tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Anderson manages to move to mount!
Maldita is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Anderson wants to take Maldita's back here but Maldita is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Maldita is squirming around, avoiding Anderson's attempts to control the action.
Maldita is trying to escape the mount but Anderson keeps good control and instead manages to take Maldita's back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anderson is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Anderson is looking to control Maldita but Maldita is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Maldita is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Anderson off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
