Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Balal Lama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Nickels!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lama shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lama showed some decent athleticism there.
Nickels blocking the ground and pound attempt from Lama.
Lama controlling the pace.
Nickels avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lama.
Lama passes the guard and advances to mount!
Nickels is trying to stand.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nickels can do anything to dispel that myth.
Nickels takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lama is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Nickels is squirming around, avoiding Lama's attempts to control the action.
Nickels is desperately trying to improve his position but Lama has a good base and remains in mount.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lama connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lama cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Lama is landing with some decent strikes but Nickels is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The referee warns Nickels that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Lama seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nickels for as long as he can get away with.
Lama postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Nickels looks a forlorn figure.
Lama lands with some strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lama postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Nickels in real trouble here! The ref calls for Nickels to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Balal Lama!
Balal Lama really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Altitude Clothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
