This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 3 losses; Rogelio Nunez! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 1 losses; Hung Young Wang! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Nunez gets in close and instigates a clinch. Wang drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nunez pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nunez clinches up against the ropes. Wang pulls guard successfully.
Wang is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Nunez (0) vs (2) Wang Wang seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Nunez is looking to control Wang's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nunez avoid being mounted? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nunez wants to improve his position but Wang is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wang looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Still in half guard, Wang seems content to control. Nunez is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Wang has latched onto it... Big trouble! Wang pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Nunez is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Wang!
