Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 71 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pawel Nastula!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kolo Ransom!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nastula bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ransom is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Nastula's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Nastula really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ransom won't allow Nastula to pass to mount.

Ransom is defending against the submission attempts here by Nastula.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ransom wants to control but Nastula is keeping busy.

Nastula is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ransom defends it well.

Nastula is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ransom actively working from the bottom here.
Ransom has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Nastula is thwarting Ransom's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nastula looking for a submission but Ransom manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Ransom escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nastula gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nastula knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ransom on the ground.
Ransom is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Nastula is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ransom is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ransom has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ransom sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Nastula's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Nastula is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Ransom has latched onto it... Big trouble! Ransom pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Nastula is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Ransom!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kolo Ransom!
