PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tom Araya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikey Proctor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Araya comes to the cage accompanied by Angel of Death. Proctor is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by A-YO. Mikey Proctor told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Araya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Araya is looking to clinch.
Araya lands with a shot to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Araya swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Proctor fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Araya avoids it really well and circles away.
Proctor throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Araya's waist but Araya gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Proctor off to one side.
Tom Araya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Proctor takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Araya lunges at Proctor with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Proctor's hand.
Proctor shoots in for a takedown but Araya shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Tom Araya has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikey Proctor.
Proctor tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Araya swivels and escapes.
Proctor changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Araya tries to avoid it but Proctor manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Araya to the ground. Araya escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Proctor shoots for a takedown but Araya saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Araya's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Araya duly obliges.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Proctor shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Proctor was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd cheers as Araya lands an impressive looking overhand right. Proctor doesn't seem phased though.
Proctor misses with a takedown attempt - Araya sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Proctor throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Araya was covering up waiting for the punch and Proctor finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Proctor drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Proctor jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Proctor shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Araya sprawls well. Araya wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Proctor gets slowly back to his feet.

Proctor chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Araya can pounce on him.

Araya throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Proctor drops back looking for a leg! Araya is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Araya manages to kick Proctor off! Proctor jumps back into Araya's guard.

Proctor has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Araya clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Araya is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Proctor gets his way!

Proctor is going olschool here, as he tries to force Araya to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Araya shrugs it off.
