Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gonzo Da Great!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eduardo Zavala!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Da Great shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Zavala's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Da Great postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Zavala is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Da Great postures up in Zavala's guard and throws a big left but Zavala blocks it.
Da Great pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Zavala is keeping the position for now.
We've been hearing good reports from Da Great's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Da Great is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Zavala has his foot on Da Great's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Da Great works his way back into a safe position though.

Da Great is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Zavala is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Da Great is working for a kimura but Zavala is defending it quite comfortably.

Da Great postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Zavala is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Da Great, into his guard.

Zavala working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Zavala is nestled in close to Da Great, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Zavala lands a big elbow - Da Great is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Zavala!
