Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zaid Owens (ranked 4084 p4p, 4075 weight class) and Metyl Handz (ranked 449 p4p, 448 weight class). Handz has chosen Jedi Mind Tricks - I Who Have Nothing as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Handz swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Owens scores with a sloppy right hand. Handz should have avoided that one.
Owens steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Handz.
Handz connects with a body shot that sends Owens's belly button to the back.
Owens is trying hard to land a takedown here. Handz sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Owens on the wrong end of a nice hook.
It looks like Zaid Owens has been cut.
Owens closes the distance and clinches.
Owens pulls guard effortlessly.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Owens escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Handz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Handz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Owens swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Handz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Handz misses with a looping left.
Owens darts in looking for a takedown but Handz gets double underhooks and turns Owens into the cage.

Owens has Handz pressed against the cage, preventing Handz from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Handz fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Owens on the side of the head.
Owens throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Handz's waist but Handz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Owens off to one side.
Handz drops Owens with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Owens looks back up at him and smiles so Handz waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Handz throws an overhand right that lands on Owens's shoulder, as Owens tries to avoid the shot.
Owens changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Owens tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Handz paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Owens gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Handz counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Oh Owens is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Handz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Handz wants to stand up but Owens is controlling him.
Owens stands and steps away. Handz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Handz tries to bum rush Owens with a series of wild strikes but Owens uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Nice straight punches there by Handz. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Handz.

No joy there for Handz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Handz might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
