Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jacob Song!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DeShawn West!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Song misses with a jab to the body
letting West counter with a right hand.
Song feints a jab promting West to slip. Song then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. West slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
It looks like DeShawn West has been cut.
West throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Song's head.
Jacob Song seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Song falls off balance throwing a combination
and West connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Song misses with a telegraphed body shot
and West counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Song thinking.
Song misses with a body shot
and West counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Song throws a hook to the side of West's head but West sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Song misses with a lunging right hand
and Song takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts West, as that shot connected.
Song throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
A shot to the body from Song misses
enabling West to counter with a crisp jab.
West fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Song is breathing heavily.
Song lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as West backs up against the cage.
Song scores with a three punch combo!
West is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Song takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
West scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Song doesn't seem bothered though.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Song throws an ugly left hook that misses
and West counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts West, as that shot connected.
Song is rocked!
Song looks up at the clock. Bad move! West lands a right hand from hell, dropping Song. West pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). DeShawn West!
