PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James Dalton (ranked 3299 p4p, 1241 weight class) and Tomas Rumiantsev (ranked 214 p4p, 89 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, James Dalton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Tomas Rumiantsev!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dalton throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rumiantsev keeps the fight on the outside.
Rumiantsev tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Dalton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rumiantsev drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Dalton defends it well.
Rumiantsev cracks Dalton with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Dalton has Rumiantsev up against the cage in a clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rumiantsev has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Rumiantsev tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Dalton misses with the head strike.
Dalton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rumiantsev is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Dalton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rumiantsev is working away from the top position though.

Dalton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rumiantsev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Rumiantsev advances to half guard.
Rumiantsev working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Dalton is trying to control but Rumiantsev passes into side control!

Rumiantsev is keen to just control but Dalton is a slippery customer.

Dalton has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Rumiantsev escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Rumiantsev!
Dalton tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rumiantsev wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Rumiantsev wants to control but Dalton is keeping him busy.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rumiantsev lands a nice short elbow.
Dalton wants to improve his position but Rumiantsev is controlling well.

Dalton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rumiantsev has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dalton is working away from the top position though.

Rumiantsev wants to get back to full guard.

Dalton is looking for a kimura but Rumiantsev is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dalton to get the leverage.
Rumiantsev wants to improve his position but Dalton is controlling well.
Dalton works his way into side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dalton tries to advance to mount but can't.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tomas Rumiantsev will probably get the nod.

Dalton misses with a few strikes there.
Rumiantsev throws a shot from downtown. Dalton moves away and avoids it.
Dalton tries to clinch up but Rumiantsev circles away and keeps his distance.
Rumiantsev appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Dalton goes for a double leg but Rumiantsev avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rumiantsev continues to drive forward.
And Rumiantsev tries to counter it with a takedown but Dalton pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Rumiantsev has picked Dalton up - he's going for a ride! Rumiantsev dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Dalton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Dalton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rumiantsev can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
