Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bo Abobo (ranked 4128 p4p, 3695 weight class) and Luke Ioannou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abobo throws a right hand that misses
and Ioannou counters with a left to the body.

Abobo tries to keep at a distance but Ioannou has taken the fight into the clinch.
Nice body punch from Ioannou - that landed with a thud.
Abobo is breathing heavily.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ioannou is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Abobo will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ioannou's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
It looks like Ioannou might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Abobo pushes Ioannou away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ioannou gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Ioannou moves into range and clinches up with Abobo.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Ioannou creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
