PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Keda Uru (ranked 4307 p4p, 4433 weight class) and Ejnar Korsgaard (ranked 386 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ejnar Korsgaard!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Korsgaard throws a hook but Uru avoids it easily.
Korsgaard throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Uru half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Korsgaard walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Uru checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Uru is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Korsgaard.
Uru uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Korsgaard.

Korsgaard fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Korsgaard has had enough of the clinch but Uru keeps him there for the moment.

Korsgaard is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Uru has denied him.

Korsgaard is trying to maintain a safe position but Uru gets an underhook and turns Korsgaard into the cage.

Uru is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Korsgaard gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Korsgaard is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Uru is looking to take this one to the mat.

Uru dives in for a single leg takedown but Korsgaard sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Uru takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Korsgaard jabs Uru right on the nose. Uru blinks but takes it well.

The fight stays on the outside here - Uru looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Korsgaard throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Uru.
Uru tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Korsgaard manages to circle out of the way.

Korsgaard lands with a straight right. Uru didn't see that one coming.

Korsgaard throws a punch but it's blocked by Uru.
Korsgaard swings wildly with an uppercut but Uru uses good head movement to avoid it.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Uru lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Korsgaard is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Korsgaard trying to control the position but instead, Uru has worked for underhooks and has pushed Korsgaard into the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A right hook to the body lands for Korsgaard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Uru has closed the distance and engaged Korsgaard in a clinch.

Crunch! Uru slams his shin into Korsgaard's torso.

Uru rushes Korsgaard and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Uru drags the fight down to the ground.
Uru is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Korsgaard pushes Uru off but Uru dives into side control.

Korsgaard bucks up and tries to throw Uru off but instead Uru has got his back!
What can Korsgaard do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Uru is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Korsgaard is trying to get back to his feet but Uru has full control of the position and if anything, Korsgaard has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Korsgaard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Uru. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Uru's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Uru seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Korsgaard for as long as he can get away with.
Korsgaard is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Uru somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Korsgaard is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Keda Uru dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Uru will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Korsgaard stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Korsgaard wants it to stay on the feet.

Uru tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Korsgaard paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Korsgaard drops Uru with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Uru looks back up at him and smiles so Korsgaard waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Oh Uru is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ejnar Korsgaard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Korsgaard engages and cracks Uru with a massive lead left hook - Uru tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Korsgaard is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ejnar Korsgaard!
During a confident post fight interview, Ejnar Korsgaard thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
