Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Mauerberger (ranked 4395 p4p, 4564 weight class) and Billy Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Richards shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Mauerberger is trying to stand back up but Richards is controlling him

Richards manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mauerberger on his heels. He'll look to pass Mauerberger's guard now, I'm sure.

Mauerberger is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Richards presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mauerberger breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mauerberger is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Richards shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Richards was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

It looks like Richards might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Mauerberger is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Let's hope that Richards has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Richards is trying to get an arm triangle but Mauerberger is defending well.
Mauerberger is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Richards asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Richards with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Mauerberger to score with a decent uppercut.

Richards shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mauerberger's guard.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Richards.

That was a close round but I would say that Daniel Mauerberger will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Mauerberger throws a right hand that Richards ducks under and follows up with a left that Richards also avoids with ease.

Mauerberger is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Mauerberger's jab looks to have found its range, popping Richards under the eye.
Mauerberger lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Richards is continuing to stall.
Richards has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mauerberger has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
I would not like to be Mauerberger right now.
Mauerberger wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
