PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Azeno Piedbatulo (ranked 4034 p4p, 4091 weight class) and Albano Matesa (ranked 159 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Azeno Piedbatulo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Albano Matesa!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matesa fails with an attempt to clinch.
Piedbatulo is looking to counter the offense by Matesa and move into the clinch.

Matesa looking to score a takedown here. Piedbatulo is defending well but Matesa drives through and ends up in Piedbatulo's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Matesa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Matesa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Matesa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Matesa tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Piedbatulo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Albano Matesa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Matesa lands with a kick to the temple. Piedbatulo shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Matesa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Piedbatulo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
As Matesa tries to get set, Piedbatulo tries to push him back and clinch up but Matesa manages to avoid the attempt.

Matesa moves into the clinch successfully.
Matesa is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Piedbatulo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Come on Matesa - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Matesa is trying to pull guard but Piedbatulo turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Piedbatulo avoids the elbow strike from Matesa, against the cage.
Matesa presses Piedbatulo against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Matesa misses with a punch on the inside.

Matesa turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Matesa has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Albano Matesa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Matesa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
