PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Noel Diaz (ranked 276 p4p, 567 weight class) and Vinny Dias (ranked 41 p4p, 80 weight class). Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by The Stockton Slap Song. Dias has chosen Stranglehold- Ted Nugent as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Noel Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vinny Dias!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz dives in for a single leg takedown but Dias sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Diaz can't get the takedown.
Dias misses with a short punch on the inside.

Diaz is fighting off a takedown attempt but Dias is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Diaz to the mat. Diaz regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Diaz seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Diaz is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Dias is defending well for now.
Dias misses with a hook from the clinch.
Diaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dias walks away with a smile on his face. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Dias shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dias wants to free his trapped foot but Diaz is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Diaz is trying to maintain the position but Dias is very close to passing his half guard.
Dias uses his free foot to push down on Diaz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Diaz.
Diaz wants to hold on but Dias pushes him away.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Diaz is desperately trying to improve his position but Dias has a good base and remains in mount.
Dias sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Diaz sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Diaz keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Dias seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Diaz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Dias is trying to work for a kimura but Diaz is defending well.
Diaz wants to improve his position but Dias is controlling well.

Diaz is controlling Dias's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Diaz wants to control but Dias is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Diaz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dias swivels and escapes.
Diaz uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dias.

Horrible takedown attempt by Diaz or perhaps it was just good defense by Dias, which made it look bad.

Dias tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dias has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dias is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dias trying to mount his opponent but Diaz defends it.

Vinny Dias showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dias changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Dias swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown. Dias tries to sprawl out of it but Diaz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dias manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Diaz shoots in but no luck this time.
Vinny Dias seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown but Dias manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diaz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Dias goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Diaz turns into him and now he's in Dias's guard.

Dias is looking for a triangle but Diaz pushes his legs off easily.

Diaz wanted to stand there but Dias had control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dias wants to sweep but no luck.
Diaz trying to stand up but can't free himself from Dias's guard.

Dias is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Diaz is aware though and is defending well.

Dias escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dias is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Diaz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Diaz wants to get up but he can't break Dias's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Dias uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Diaz has time to react.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dias lunges at Diaz with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Diaz's hand.
Dias uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Diaz.
Noel Diaz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Vinny Dias is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Vinny Dias comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dias has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
