Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mohammad Contreras!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Contreras closes this distance looking for a takedown but Caceres circles away.
Caceres drops down looking for a counter takedown but Contreras sprawls and moves away.
Contreras misses with a body shot.

Caceres shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Caceres was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Contreras tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Caceres fails to move to back control.
Caceres takes Contreras's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Contreras is in trouble.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Caceres stops Contreras from getting back to his feet.
Contreras is trying to maintain the position but Caceres is very close to passing his half guard.
Caceres prevents Contreras from improving his position.
Caceres working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Contreras's thigh. Contreras counters though and makes it back to full guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Caceres slips nicely into half guard.
Contreras pushes Caceres off looking to stand but Caceres dives back in and keeps control.
Contreras is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Caceres wants to pass to mount but Contreras is defending the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Contreras doesn't manage to clinch there - Caceres circles away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Caceres swats away the attempt to clinch by Contreras.
Rodrigo Caceres seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Caceres feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Caceres passes Contreras's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Contreras gets back to full guard.

Contreras throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Caceres escapes and throws Contreras's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Contreras is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Caceres asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Caceres is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Contreras has escaped the position, nice work there.

Caceres is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Contreras knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Caceres tries to advance to mount but Contreras denies him.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Caceres has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Caceres is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Contreras has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Contreras!
Contreras wants to control from the top but Caceres keeps moving.

Contreras is fighting to break Caceres's control of his arms but Caceres is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Caceres continues to stall.

Contreras would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Contreras postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Contreras wants to stand but Caceres is controlling his posture from full guard.
Contreras is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Caceres not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Caceres has Contreras pulled in close to control his posture.
Contreras won't allow Caceres to sweep him here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Contreras trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Caceres seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Caceres steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Contreras.

Caceres decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Caceres has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Contreras reaches up to try and control the position but Caceres seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Contreras rolls and tries to escape and now Caceres has his back!
Contreras tries to escape but Caceres has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Contreras is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Caceres has one arm under Contreras 's neck. Contreras is controlling the other arm well. He's just looking to survive right now. Caceres manages to get his arm free though and Contreras is in a world of trouble! Caceres sinks in the hooks and squeezes! Contreras turns purple and then goes limp. The referee steps in to end the bout!
