Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mateus Nunes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zach Maccall!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maccall gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Nunes tries to stall but Maccall uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Maccall has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Nunes regains guard immediately.
Maccall works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Nunes is trying to stand up here but Maccall is controlling him well.
Nunes trying to hold on to Maccall's head to control him but Maccall postures up.
Well, if Maccall is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nunes wants to control the action here but instead Maccall manages to pass to full mount!

Maccall really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nunes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nunes wants to hold on but Maccall pushes him away.
Maccall fails to advance to Nunes's back.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Maccall manages to capitalize on a mistake by Nunes to take his back!
Maccall keeps control of the position easily here as Nunes tries to buck him off.

Maccall has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Nunes's body.
I really don't envy Nunes right now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Maccall is trying to stick to Nunes's back but Nunes is turning into Maccall. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Maccall's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Nunes.
Maccall is pulling down on Nunes's head to control his posture.
Nunes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maccall swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Maccall has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Nunes clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Nunes stands and throws Maccall's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Nunes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Maccall, who protects the arm well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nunes tries for a kimura but Maccall is defending well.

Nunes goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Maccall rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Nunes's guard! Nice work there by Maccall!

Nunes has an active guard here but Maccall has managed to pass into half guard.
Maccall is thwarting Nunes's attempts to control the position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Maccall in particular looking to stall.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nunes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maccall tries to avoid it but Nunes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maccall to the ground. Maccall escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nunes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Maccall has taken the fight to the clinch.
Nunes is looking to control Maccall's arms but Maccall gets an underhook and turns him. Now Nunes has his back to the cage.

Maccall turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Maccall manages to end up in side control.
Nunes prevents Maccall from moving into mount.

Maccall has control of an arm but Nunes manages to advance to Maccall's back!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nunes perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Maccall keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Nunes has gone for a leg lock! Maccall slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nunes's guard.

Maccall engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Nunes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Nunes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maccall doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maccall manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
