PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elmo Fredrico (ranked 4227 p4p, 4204 weight class) and Jake Tafa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Tafa!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fredrico changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tafa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Tafa throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Fredrico closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Tafa's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Fredrico's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Tafa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Tafa enables Fredrico to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Tafa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fredrico seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tafa for as long as he can get away with.
Elmo Fredrico overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Fredrico is stinking the place up with his stalling.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Fredrico throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tafa was covering up waiting for the punch and Fredrico finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Fredrico closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fredrico lands in his opponent's guard.

Fredrico cracks Tafa with a big right hand but Tafa just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Fredrico remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well Fredrico has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
