Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Khamzat Nurmaev (ranked 2942 p4p, 24754 weight class) and River Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). River Davis acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Khamzat Nurmaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, River Davis!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Davis throws a shot to the body.

Davis gets a clinch.
Nurmaev tries to break the clinch but Davis is controlling the position.
Nurmaev is pushing Davis up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Nurmaev tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Davis avoids it.
Nurmaev has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Davis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Davis stalling the fight.

Davis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nurmaev throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Davis's waist but Davis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nurmaev off to one side.
Nurmaev lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Nurmaev.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nurmaev looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Khamzat Nurmaev. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Davis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nurmaev.
Nurmaev misses with a takedown attempt - Davis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Davis moves into the clinch.

Davis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nurmaev takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Davis misses with a double jab.
Nurmaev fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Davis checks it well.

enabling Davis to counter with a crisp jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nurmaev fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Davis lands a slapping body shot.
Davis chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Davis lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Davis moves into range and clinches up with Nurmaev.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nurmaev working hard to break the clinch.

Davis manages to break the clinch.
Nurmaev doesn't manage to clinch there - Davis circles away.
Nurmaev tries to clinch there but Davis circles away.
Davis unleashes a big counter combination but Nurmaev bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Nurmaev fails to land the takedown.
Nurmaev is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

and Davis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nice sprawl there from Davis as Nurmaev shoots in.

Davis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Nurmaev tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Davis lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Davis lands a couple of good shots and Nurmaev has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nurmaev avoids the strikes from Davis.
Nurmaev is taking damage to the body and head.
Davis has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Nurmaev.

Nurmaev is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis scoring with big shots to the body. Nurmaev is looking for a way out. A despairing look towards the ref and the official steps in to stop the fight. Nurmaev was obviously done but didn't want to tap out.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). River Davis!
