Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ahjo Kuomanen (ranked 377 p4p, 402 weight class) and Don Cortez (ranked 17 p4p, 22 weight class). Kuomanen comes to the cage accompanied by HonestKey - One Shot. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ahjo Kuomanen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Cortez!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortez stuns Kuomanen with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Cortez drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cortez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kuomanen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cortez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Kuomanen wants to improve his position but Cortez is controlling well.
Cortez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kuomanen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kuomanen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Cortez wants to pass the guard but Kuomanen is keeping the position.

Kuomanen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cortez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Cortez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kuomanen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

My spies in Roosters Coop inform me that Cortez has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kuomanen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cortez moves away.
Cortez changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

and Kuomanen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A big right from Kuomanen misses.
Cortez drives through with a takedown into Kuomanen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Cortez is stalling in the full guard.
Kuomanen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cortez's guard.
Cortez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kuomanen wants to control from the top but Cortez keeps moving.

Kuomanen is fighting to break Cortez's control of his arms but Cortez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Let's hope that Cortez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
