PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Santos Carlson (ranked 3003 p4p, 25113 weight class) and Support Me (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Santos Carlson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Santos Carlson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Support Me!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Me gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Carlson takes a knee right on the jaw!

Carlson pulls guard effortlessly.
Me is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Me tries to stand but Carlson is controlling from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Me is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Me postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Me is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Carlson is wriggling around but Me manages to pass to half guard.
Me tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Carlson.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Well, if Me is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Carlson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Me controlling from the top position.
Me stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carlson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Me stopping the sweep attempt from Carlson.

Me is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Me stands up and waves to Carlson to follow him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Me closes the distance and clinches.

Me jumps into guard, dragging Carlson to the mat.
Carlson is fighting to break Me's control of his arms but Me is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Carlson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Me looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Me looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Me!

Carlson pushes Me away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Me gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Support Me dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Carlson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Me tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Carlson defends well and Me ends up having to push Carlson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Me shoots in and gets a takedown into Carlson's guard.
Carlson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Carlson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Me is one step ahead there.
Carlson wants to stand and escape but Me is having none of it.
Carlson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Me is stalling in the full guard.
Carlson is trying to control the position but Me postures up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Carlson misses with the body kick

and Me counters with a shoot takedown. Carlson fights it but they end up in guard.
Me pushing down on Carlson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Me is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Me is looking to advance position but Carlson won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carlson is trying to stand up here but Me is controlling him well.
Carlson trying to control but Me postures up.
Me frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Me landing punches.
Me lands a couple of good shots and Carlson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carlson tries to escape but Me has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
I would not like to be Carlson right now.
Carlson wants to control his opponent's hands but Me gets his hands free.
I really don't envy Carlson right now.
Me controls the action.

Carlson rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Me content to control rather than advance.
Me lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Me performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Support Me showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Carlson misses with a takedown attempt

and Me counters by clinching up.

Me breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Me gets a double leg takedown into Carlson's guard.
Me is standing up over Carlson. Carlson looks to escape but Me dives into side control.

Carlson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Me landing a few strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Me thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Me lands some shots froms side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Me taking a breather here.
Me has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Carlson tries to bench press Me off him but Me keeps the position.
Me is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Carlson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Me is continuing to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Me tries for a kimura but Carlson is defending well.

Me decides to stand up, so the ref orders Carlson to his feet.

Me shoots in and bounces Carlson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Me works over Carlson with some ground and pound from guard.
Me won't allow Carlson to get back to his feet.
Me is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Carlson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Me doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Me manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Me stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carlson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Carlson controls Me momentarily but Me frees himself.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Me scoring with punches to the head and body.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Me closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Carlson to the mat! Carlson manages to get full guard.
Carlson wants to get back to his feet but Me passes into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Santos Carlson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Me has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
