PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Phichael Melps (ranked 4359 p4p, 4038 weight class) and Dong Hyun Ma (ranked 414 p4p, 395 weight class). Dong Hyun Ma told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dong Hyun Ma!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Melps dives in and scores a takedown into Ma's guard.
Melps distracts Ma with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Melps wants to control from the top but Ma keeps moving.
Melps passes Ma's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ma is staying active underneath Melps, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Melps with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Ma really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Melps. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Melps is working for a kimura but Ma is defending it quite comfortably.
