Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Scott Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Summers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Eddie Farnsworth and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Summers feints and as Mir raises his hands in defense, Summers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mir looking for a sweep. Not yet Mir, not yet.
Mir is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Summers is controlling him.
Summers trying to control but Mir is working from the bottom.
Summers throws a big right hand that misses.
Summers forces his way into half guard.
Mir wants to get back to his feet.
Mir is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mir throws an overhand right that lands on Summers's shoulder, as Summers tries to avoid the shot.
Summers swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Summers misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mir is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Mir has taken the fight to the clinch.
Summers tries for a takedown. No joy.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Summers blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Mir with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Mir is trying to maintain a safe position but Summers gets an underhook and turns Mir into the cage.
Summers unloads a knee to the mid-section. Mir lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Summers has hold of one of Mir's legs. Mir is fighting the takedown attempt but Summers gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Mir looks gassed!
Summers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mir swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Summers controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Mir manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Summers working to try and regain half guard.
Mir cracks Summers with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Summers is trying desperately to improve position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Summers manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Summers moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Summers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mir loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Summers looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Mir decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Mir misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mir doesn't manage to clinch there - Summers circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mir shoots in for a takedown but Summers shows good takedown defense.
Mir throws a jab but it's blocked by Summers.

and Summers counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mir won't be happy with that.
Summers tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Summers advances nicely into full mount.

Summers has control of Mir's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mir regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Summers wants to control the pace but Mir is squirming around nicely.

Summers goes for an armbar but Mir turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mir.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Summers has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mir can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Summers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Summers working for submissions but it's allowed Mir to get to half guard.
Mir tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Summers is pressing down on Mir's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Summers has his foot on Mir's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mir works his way back into a safe position though.
Mir wants to control from the top but Summers keeps moving.

Summers is working an open guard so Mir takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Summers closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Mir kicks off Summers and gets to his feet.
Mir clinches but Summers breaks the clinch

and Summers counters with a shoot takedown. Mir fights it but they end up in guard.
Mir controls Summers momentarily but Summers frees himself.
Summers pushes down on Mir's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Summers works his way into full mount!

Summers jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mir manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
You can see the frustration on Mir's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mir wants to get back to his feet but Summers drags him back down.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Summers tries for a kimura but Mir is defending well.
Mir gets back to half guard.
Scott Summers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Summers is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mir sees it coming and defends easily.

Summers is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mir trying to control from the bottom.

Mir pushes Summers off and gets back to his feet.

Summers has Mir up against the cage in a clinch.
Mir is pressed up against the cage. Summers has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mir down to the mat. Mir avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Mir shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mir closes this distance looking for a takedown but Summers circles away.
Summers fails with a takedown attempt.

Summers closes the distance and clinches.
Mir wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Summers is pressed up against the cage. Mir has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Summers down to the mat. Summers avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Scott Summers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.

Summers closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Summers lands in his opponent's guard.

Summers is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Mir is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Summers advances position into side control!

Summers working the ground and pound but Mir is defending the strikes.
Mir is not content to let Summers control the position.
Mir is trying to buck Summers off.
Summers moves into full mount!
Summers looking to control but Mir is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Summers goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Mir turns into him and now he's in Summers's guard.

Summers is looking for a triangle but Mir pushes his legs off easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Summers looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Mir passes into half guard.
Mir wants to control but Summers is keeping him busy.

Summers looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Mir wants to stand but Summers has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Summers gets full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mir's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Summers dominated that second round.
That's time! Summers's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Mir throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
A jab from Summers misses.
Mir wants to clinch but Summers slips to the side

and Summers moves into the clinch.

Mir breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Summers counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Summers is looking for a kimura but Mir is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Summers to get the leverage.
Mir wants to get back to his feet.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mir moves into full guard.
Summers slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Summers trying to control the position but Mir is working away.
Mir wants to get back to his feet.
Mir gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Summers wants to free his trapped foot but Mir is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Mir wants to get back to full guard.
Mir is trying to stand.

Mir is defending against the submission attempts here by Summers.
Summers prevents Mir from standing back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Summers missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Mir kicks off Summers and gets to his feet.
Frank Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Summers counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mir's guard now.

Summers decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mir, up you get!

Summers is looking to advance position but Mir has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Mir looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Summers bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Mir utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Summers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mir swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Summers stops Mir from standing up.
Summers tries to free his leg and advance position but Mir is retaining full guard.
Summers stops Mir from standing up.
Summers pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mir is keeping the position for now.
Summers passes Mir's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Summers moves into full mount! Mir won't be happy about that!

Summers has hold of Mir's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mir manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Summers punching from mount but Mir doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Summers prevents Mir from getting the reversal.
Summers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mir is looking to escape.

Summers swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mir is now in Summers's guard. A big mistake from Summers there, giving up the dominant position!
Summers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mir is one step ahead there.
Mir postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

And that's the end of the fight!
Scott Summers showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Summers has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
