PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tanjiro Namikaze (ranked 2640 p4p, 3131 weight class) and Andrew Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 198 weight class). Andrew Lewis told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis throws a head kick but Namikaze moves out of range.
Namikaze defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lewis.

Namikaze shoots in and bounces Lewis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Namikaze's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lewis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Namikaze stands up over Lewis, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Namikaze makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Lewis has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Namikaze has passed into side control.
Namikaze working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Namikaze tries to advance to mount but Lewis denies him.

Namikaze wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lewis keeps working.
Namikaze has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Lewis!
Lewis is bucking up trying to escape but Namikaze cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Namikaze cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Lewis is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Namikaze lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
