PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between MacBeth Bravo (ranked 24927 p4p, 4473 weight class) and Shan Hattin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bravo comes into the arena with Hair Of The Dog blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Shan Hattin enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, MacBeth Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shan Hattin!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bravo stuffs the takedown.
As Hattin looks to move away, Bravo throws a big counter combo but Hattin just gets out of the way.

Hattin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bravo, pushing him back against the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Hattin.

Hattin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hattin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bravo defends it nicely.
Bravo appears to be looking for a big counter.
Hattin scores with a hook to the body. Bravo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hattin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bravo avoids it really well and circles away.
MacBeth Bravo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shan Hattin.

Hattin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bravo tries to avoid it but Hattin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bravo to the ground. Bravo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bravo appears to be looking for a big counter.
Bravo misses with a double jab.
Shan Hattin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hattin doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bravo counters with a left and a right that stings Hattin.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Hattin.
Nice takedown defense from Bravo. No joy for Hattin on that attempt.
Hattin tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bravo defends well and Hattin ends up having to push Bravo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Hattin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bravo as he jumps to the side.
Bravo throws a big counter combination but Hattin scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Hattin looks winded!
Bravo throws a series of strikes that have Hattin backpedaling.

No joy there for Bravo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bravo throws a right and a left that Hattin avoids nicely.
Hattin misses with a double jab
and Bravo counters with a one-two to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hattin darts in and clinches Bravo up against the cage.
Hattin blocks a body shot from Bravo.
Hattin tries to pull guard but Bravo forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hattin has Bravo pushed against the cage.

Hattin successfully pulls guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hattin wants to sweep here but Bravo controlling him for the moment.
Hattin wants to get back to his feet but Bravo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Bravo wants to stand but Hattin is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bravo is fighting to break Hattin's control of his arms but Hattin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Bravo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Bravo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hattin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bravo tries to stand but Hattin is controlling from the bottom.
Bravo stopping the sweep attempt from Hattin.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hattin wants to stand up but Bravo is controlling him.
Hattin will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

MacBeth Bravo dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hattin dives in and scores a takedown into Bravo's guard.

Bravo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hattin off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Hattin wants to clinch but Bravo slips to the side
and Bravo counters with a left and a right that stings Hattin.
Bravo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hattin tries to clinch but Bravo moves out of range.
Hattin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bravo sprawls well. Bravo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hattin gets slowly back to his feet.

Hattin moves into range and clinches up with Bravo.
Hattin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bravo walks away with a smile on his face. Hattin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Hattin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hattin content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Hattin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hattin tries to counter by closing the distance.

Hattin closes the distance and clinches.

Hattin wants to clinch up but Bravo keeps it at a distance.
Bravo looks to land a combination but Hattin avoids it well.
Hattin only half commits to the counter leg kick.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
and Bravo counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

A combination from Bravo does no damage.
Hattin throws a big counter head kick but Bravo avoids it with no problem.
Bravo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hattin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hattin drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bravo defends it well.
Bravo throws a right and a left that Hattin avoids nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hattin is pushing Bravo up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Bravo goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Bravo looks to land a combination but Hattin avoids it well.

Hattin moves into the clinch.

Hattin pulls guard successfully.
Hattin pulls Bravo in to control the position.
Hattin throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Hattin pulls Bravo in close to his closed guard and prevents Bravo from doing any damage or advancing position.
Bravo preventing the sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bravo wants to stand and escape but instead Hattin has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Hattin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Let's hope that Hattin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Shan Hattin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hattin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bravo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hattin controls the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bravo stalks Hattin and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hattin's face. Hattin staggers backwards, shaken.

Hattin pushes Bravo up against the cage in a clinch.
Hattin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bravo goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Bravo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hattin can do to turn this around?

Hattin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bravo gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Bravo struggles to land a body shot inside as Hattin controls his hands.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hattin scores with a nice hook to the head.
Hattin content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Hattin is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Bravo to keep the fight standing.

Hattin moves in looking to clinch but Bravo pushes him off.
Bravo seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Bravo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Hattin fails with a takedown attempt.
As Hattin looks to move away, Bravo throws a big counter combo but Hattin just gets out of the way.
Hattin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bravo misses with a series of wild punches.
Hattin raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to MacBeth Bravo.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bravo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
