Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Wheeler (ranked 23718 p4p, 23177 weight class) and Miles Knox (ranked 671 p4p, 655 weight class). Knox has chosen Tarzan Boy as his entrance music. Marcus Wheeler has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Miles Knox!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knox takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Wheeler shoots in but Knox avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Knox drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Wheeler defends it well.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Knox.

Knox wants to stand but Wheeler has his arm trapped.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wheeler is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Knox's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wheeler is trying to get back to his feet but Knox has full control of the position and if anything, Wheeler has just worked his way into a worse spot.

and Knox counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Knox wants to stand but Wheeler has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Knox has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Knox shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wheeler pinned against the cage. Wheeler gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wheeler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Knox swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wheeler stops Knox from standing up.
Wheeler has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Wheeler wants to control from the top but Knox keeps moving.
Wheeler throws a strike but Knox rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Knox wants to get back to his feet but Wheeler is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Miles Knox showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Knox shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wheeler pinned against the cage. Wheeler gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wheeler is defended easily by Knox.

Wheeler changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Knox shoots in looking for a takedown. Wheeler tries to sprawl out of it but Knox keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wheeler manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wheeler attempts a counter takedown but Knox avoids it well and moves away.
Wheeler throws a series of punches but Knox moves out of range.
Wheeler misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wheeler fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Wheeler fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Knox, pushing him back against the cage.

Knox goes for a takedown attempt but Wheeler pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Knox shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wheeler's guard.
Knox takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Knox has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wheeler is proving hard to escape from.
Wheeler is looking to stand up but Knox isn't so interested in that idea.

Wheeler is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Knox defends well.
Wheeler pulls Knox in close to prevent any damage.

Knox wants to stand but Wheeler is controlling his posture from full guard.

Wheeler has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Knox is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Knox stops a takedown attempt from Wheeler.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Knox wants to stand but Wheeler is controlling the position.
Miles Knox is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Wheeler drops back, looking for a kneebar! Knox looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Knox looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Knox!

Marcus Wheeler showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Knox has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
