PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sand Storm (ranked 4468 p4p, 4369 weight class) and Wood Allison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Sand Storm has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sand Storm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wood Allison !
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Ron Honeybunn and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Storm drives through and clinches with Allison against the cage.
Allison missing with knees to the body.

Storm pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Storm controls Allison momentarily but Allison frees himself.
Storm looking to hit a scissor sweep but Allison is one step ahead there.

Storm looking for a guillotine here but Allison defends easily.
Storm really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Allison content to stall in guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Allison 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Storm is looking for a triangle but Allison pushes his legs off easily.
Storm pulls Allison in close to prevent any damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Allison postures up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Storm fails with a takedown attempt.
Allison was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Storm stuffs the takedown.

Allison drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Storm has a closed guard, preventing Allison from standing up.
Allison works over Storm with some ground and pound from guard.
Storm is trying to control the position but Allison postures up.
Storm is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Storm is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Allison sees it coming and defends easily.

Storm is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Storm is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Allison is looking to escape.
Storm not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Storm tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Allison .
Allison moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Storm tries to free his leg and advance position but Allison is retaining full guard.

Storm stands up from Allison 's guard - Storm perhaps looking for a knockout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Allison looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Storm.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Allison decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sand Storm will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Allison shoots in looking for a takedown but Storm manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Allison 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Storm avoids a punch combination nicely.

Allison wants to lay and pray for a moment but Storm keeps working.

Storm is controlling Allison 's trapped leg to prevent Allison from advancing to side control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Storm tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Allison paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Allison feints the counter takedown.
Storm lands a nice shot to the body.
Storm closes the distance and clinches up with Allison , looking for a takedown. Storm pushes Allison against the cage but Allison circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Storm pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Allison tries to clinch there but Storm circles away.
Storm shoots in looking for a takedown. Allison tries to sprawl out of it but Storm keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Allison manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Storm shoots in but Allison avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Wood Allison will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Storm is pushing Allison up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Allison has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Storm avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Storm breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Storm shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Allison pinned against the cage. Allison gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Allison has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Storm avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Storm has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Allison uses from the top position.

Well Storm has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
