Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Beta Bishop (ranked 6025 p4p, 25275 weight class) and Jose Ruiz (ranked 495 p4p, 497 weight class). Jose Ruiz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Beta Bishop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Ruiz!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bishop tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ruiz defends well and Bishop ends up having to push Ruiz into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ruiz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bishop walks away with a smile on his face. Ruiz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Bishop avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bishop seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Ruiz tries to clinch but Bishop is having none of it.

Bishop moves into the clinch successfully.
Ruiz fails to pull guard.
Bishop gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ruiz.
Beta Bishop has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Ruiz.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Bishop takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Bishop has Ruiz pressed against the cage, preventing Ruiz from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Bishop perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bishop thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Bishop slows the pace down in half guard.
Bishop trying to mount his opponent but Ruiz defends it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ruiz taking some punishment here, with Bishop in his half guard.
Ruiz keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Ruiz is not content to let Bishop control the position.
Bishop is pressing down on Ruiz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ruiz is holding on for now.
Bishop passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ruiz!
Bishop fails to take his opponent's back.

Bishop is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ruiz to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ruiz shrugs it off.

Bishop punching from mount but Ruiz doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Bishop stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Bishop fails with a takedown attempt.
Ruiz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ruiz wants it to stay on the feet.
Bishop shoots for a double leg takedown but Ruiz sprawls well. He's pushed Bishop's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ruiz shoots in for a takedown but Bishop shows good takedown defense.

Bishop closes the distance and clinches.

Ruiz is trying to control the position but Bishop postures up.
Bishop is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Beta Bishop dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bishop is on top in guard.

Bishop has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bishop wants to get up but he can't break Ruiz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Bishop gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bishop keeps the fight on the outside.
Bishop throws a wild body kick that Ruiz sees coming a mile off.

Bishop forces Ruiz back against the cage and clinches.

Bishop looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ruiz is one step ahead there.
Bishop keeping moving, preventing Ruiz from controlling successfully.

Ruiz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bishop. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ruiz stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Bishop has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Ruiz manages to get his head free but now Bishop has transitioned to an armbar! Ruiz grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Bishop! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
