Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mason Wilson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John James!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wilson instigates a clinch.
Wilson is looking to take this one to the mat.
Wilson stops a takedown attempt from James.
James changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Wilson fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Wilson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but James manages to avoid it.
James drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Wilson defends it well.

Wilson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
James is trying to get back to half guard.
Wilson sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but James is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilson controls the position.
Wilson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Wilson takes a little break here. James wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Wilson misses with a series of wild punches.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from James! But no joy.

Wilson moves into the clinch.
James is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wilson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Mason Wilson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John James.

and James counters with a shoot takedown. Wilson fights it but they end up in guard.

James is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wilson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wilson has escaped and now he's on top!

James wants to get back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Wilson tries to clinch but James is having none of it.
James tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
James moves forwards but Wilson connects with a nice, crisp jab.

James has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Wilson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
James gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Wilson.
Wilson wants to break the clinch but can't.

Wilson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but James has him pressed against the cage.
Wilson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that James can do to turn this around?
James tries for a takedown but Wilson manages to get underhooks.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Wilson manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
James prevents a takedown attempt there.
James tries for a takedown but Wilson manages to get underhooks.
James tries to score a body lock takedown but Wilson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Wilson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

James drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wilson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now James has Wilson in his guard.

Wilson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

James throws his legs up looking for a submission but Wilson uses it to pass to side control.
Wilson controls the position from side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if James can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wilson is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
James is looking for a sweep.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Wilson stands up.
Wilson tries to clinch

and James counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

James is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Wilson manages to get to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wilson is on top in guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wilson trying to control but James is working from the bottom.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mason Wilson dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Wilson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but James swivels and escapes.

Wilson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging James to the ground. Wilson is now in James's guard.
Wilson is pushing down on James's leg trying to pass to half guard. James is fighting to maintain full guard but Wilson has managed to sneak the leg through.

Wilson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks James with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

James looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Wilson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Wilson content to control rather than advance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

James actively working from the bottom here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilson working over James with some ground and pound. James looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Wilson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Wilson wants to take a breather but James is having none of it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Wilson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wilson misses with a jab, cross combination.
James with the counter takedown but Wilson avoids it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wilson.
It seemed like James was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Wilson is looking to clinch.
Wilson throws a left and a right that both miss
and James counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Wilson laying and praying for a moment but James takes advantage and regains half guard.

Wilson is keen to just control but James is a slippery customer.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

James is defending against the submission attempts here by Wilson.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wilson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
James is looking to improve his position.
John James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mason Wilson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well Wilson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
