PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Devon Nzee (ranked 2796 p4p, 2351 weight class) and Givaldo Torres (ranked 337 p4p, 295 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Devon Nzee has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Devon Nzee seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Torres.
A little jabbing left from Torres on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Torres scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Nzee fails to land the takedown.
Torres keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Torres pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Torres stuns Nzee with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Torres. Nzee does a little dance to reset his feet.

Torres tries to work over Nzee's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Torres misses with a hook to the ribs.
Nzee tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Torres smiles and moves away.
Givaldo Torres is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Torres jabs Nzee right on the nose. Nzee blinks but takes it well.
Torres wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Torres has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Torres connects with a good right hand that stumbles Nzee. Nzee circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Torres lunges at Nzee with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Nzee's hand.

Givaldo Torres seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Torres has managed to clinch.

Torres tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Nzee's elbow.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Torres creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Nzee tries for a takedown. No joy.

Torres tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Nzee has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Nzee looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Nzee is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Torres defends well.

Torres got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nzee has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Torres has managed to get both his arms back between Nzee's legs - danger averted.

Torres drops back looking for a leg! Nzee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nzee manages to kick Torres off! Torres jumps back into Nzee's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Torres wants to control from the top but Nzee keeps moving.

Nzee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Torres doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Torres manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Nzee has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Torres doesn't defend quickly enough and Nzee has managed to lock this one up! Can Torres escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Nzee on a fantastic submission victory.
