Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 4341 p4p, 4377 weight class) and Jake Sulivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Sulivan!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws an overhand right that lands on Sulivan's shoulder, as Sulivan tries to avoid the shot.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sulivan wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard.
Sulivan slips nicely into half guard.

Jones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jones tries to get out of the position.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sulivan as he jumps to the side.
Sulivan goes for a double leg but Jones avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jones continues to drive forward.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sulivan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sulivan off to one side.

Sulivan manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Jones keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Jones tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Sulivan gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sulivan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jones is pressing down on Sulivan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Sulivan passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Jones sets himself, and Sulivan steps forward looking for the clinch! Jones avoids it this time.

Sulivan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jones walks away with a smile on his face. Sulivan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Sulivan wants to land a leg kick but Jones is out of range.

Sulivan gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Jones.
Jones wants to get back to striking at distance but Sulivan won't allow it.
Sulivan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Sulivan is trying to pull guard but Jones has him pressed against the cage.
Sulivan is trying to break the clinch but Jones has him pressed against the cage.
Jones throws a head punch that misses.
Sulivan is trying to maintain a safe position but Jones gets an underhook and turns Sulivan into the cage.
Sulivan is trying to force a seperation but Jones has the dominant position.
Sulivan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jones misses with a knee strike.
Jones fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Jones tries a knee to the head but Sulivan blocks it.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Jones.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sulivan is on top in guard.

Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Sulivan moves out of range easily.
Sulivan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.

Jake Sulivan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sulivan tries to pull guard but Jones holds him up against the cage and eventually Sulivan drops back down to his feet.

Sulivan is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Jones is defending well for now.

Sulivan is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jones to keep the fight standing.
Sulivan has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment.
Sulivan is looking to break free of the clinch but Jones has double underhooks.
Jones misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sulivan.

Jones throws a punch but it's blocked by Sulivan.
Sulivan tries to pull guard but Jones forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Sulivan jumps guard and drags Jones to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Jones throws a big elbow that misses.
Sulivan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sulivan controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself.

Sulivan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jones stopping the sweep attempt from Sulivan.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sulivan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jones sprawls well. Jones wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sulivan gets slowly back to his feet.
Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sulivan circles away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jon Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jake Sulivan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Sulivan shows good takedown defense.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jon Jones.
I think Sulivan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
