PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sir Beocca (ranked 24627 p4p, 3578 weight class) and Patrick Nielson (ranked 532 p4p, 402 weight class). Beocca 's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Alok & Mojjo - Love Love feat. Gilsons. Sir Beocca had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.3lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sir Beocca !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Nielson!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nielson avoids the body shot from Beocca .
Beocca goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Beocca moves out of range of the strikes.
Beocca is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Nielson.
Nielson on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Beocca looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A looping hook to the body misses from Beocca . Nielson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Beocca takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Beocca fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nielson misses with a hook. Beocca ducked under it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beocca takes a swing at Nielson's ribcage but misses.
Nielson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Beocca looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Nielson throws a low kick but Beocca avoids it.
Beocca throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Nielson swings widly with a right hand
and Beocca counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Beocca throws a front kick aimed at Nielson's knee but Nielson avoids it well.
Nielson let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Beocca takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Nielson swings for the body but Beocca moves out of range.
An attempted straight right counter from Beocca misses the target.
Nielson slips a jab and a cross from Beocca .
Beocca throws the kick towards the body but Nielson avoids it.
Nielson throws a leg kick but Beocca sees it coming and moves out of range.
A nice leg kick lands there from Nielson.

Nielson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Beocca looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Nielson is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Beocca will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Nielson looks up at the clock and then as Beocca takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Nielson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nielson misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Beocca defending against the ground and pound.
Beocca avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Nielson.
Nielson moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Nielson working the ground and pound but Beocca is defending the strikes.
Nielson sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Beocca is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Nielson tries to advance to mount but Beocca denies him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nielson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Beocca sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Beocca defending against the ground and pound.
Nielson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Beocca taking punishment in the form of punches.
Beocca takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Nielson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Beocca to see if he's OK.
Nielson lands a few punches from side control.

Nielson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nielson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Nielson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Beocca looks calm but he's in trouble here. Nielson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Beocca is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Nielson lets go of the hold and Beocca can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Patrick Nielson!
A very excited looking Patrick Nielson rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
