PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ilgonis Bahs (ranked 6084 p4p, 5235 weight class) and Gerald Aguilar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ilgonis Bahs has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ilgonis Bahs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gerald Aguilar!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aguilar will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bahs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aguilar but Aguilar pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Aguilar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bahs tries to avoid it but Aguilar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bahs to the ground. Bahs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Aguilar clinches.
Aguilar throws a knee to the head but misses.

Aguilar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Aguilar fails to land the takedown.
Bahs wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bahs throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Aguilar's waist but Aguilar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bahs off to one side.

That was a close round but I would say that Ilgonis Bahs will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Aguilar postures up in Bahs's guard and throws a big left but Bahs blocks it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Aguilar is defended easily by Bahs.

Bahs shoots for a double leg takedown but Aguilar sprawls well. He's pushed Bahs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gerald Aguilar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Aguilar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bahs is trying to maintain a safe position but Aguilar gets an underhook and turns Bahs into the cage.

Aguilar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bahs takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Aguilar struggles to land a body shot inside as Bahs controls his hands.

Bahs shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Aguilar's guard.

Aguilar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bahs manages to get himself to full guard.
