Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Godfrey (ranked 3398 p4p, 25251 weight class) and Traicho Traev (ranked 480 p4p, 643 weight class). Godfrey comes to the cage accompanied by Where the Streets Have No Name - U2. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ben Godfrey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Traicho Traev!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Traev gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Godfrey has hold of one of Traev's legs. Traev is fighting the takedown attempt but Godfrey gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Godfrey postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Traev wants to get back to his feet but Godfrey is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Traev looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Godfrey landing some decent shots from guard.
Traev looking to hit a scissor sweep but Godfrey is one step ahead there.
Traev being controlled here, momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Godfrey postures up and lands a big shot to Traev's brow.
Godfrey throws a big right hand that misses.

Traev looking for a guillotine here but Godfrey defends easily.

Godfrey lands a couple of elbows.
Godfrey is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Godfrey stopping the sweep attempt from Traev.

Godfrey throws an elbow that misses. Traev uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Godfrey's guard. Nice move by Traev!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Godfrey lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Godfrey content to control rather than advance.
Godfrey drops an elbow to the side of Traev's head.
Godfrey not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Traev blocking the ground and pound attempt from Godfrey.
Godfrey throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Godfrey really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Traev wants to control but Godfrey is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Godfrey lands strikes from half guard.
Traev wants to get back to his feet.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Godfrey connects with a nice short shot to Traev's temple.

Traev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Godfrey winds up and cracks Traev with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Traev wants to stand back up but Godfrey manages to pass into side control.
Godfrey content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Traev is rocked!

It looks like Traicho Traev has been cut.
Godfrey in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Traev is still in real trouble! Can Godfrey finish him?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Godfrey scores with a couple of short elbows.
Godfrey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Traev tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Godfrey wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Godfrey is chipping away with strikes.
Godfrey lands a strong strike to the head of Traev. That's dazed him! Godfrey looking to finish here. Traev is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Godfrey lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ben Godfrey!
