PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Robles (ranked 4404 p4p, 4452 weight class) and Luis Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joshua Robles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luis Garcia!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Garcia shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Robles's guard.

Garcia slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Robles is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Garcia is aware though and is defending well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Robles is trying to control but can't.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Robles tries to close the distance and clinch but Garcia swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Garcia moves in looking to clinch but Robles pushes him off.

Garcia throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Robles tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Garcia is in Robles's guard.

Robles pushes Garcia off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Robles looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Garcia is fending him off so far but Robles persists. Nope, Garcia circles away and we're back to standing.
Garcia moves into range and connects with a jab.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Garcia is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Robles is controlling him well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

and Garcia counters with a right hand to the body.

Robles drops down looking for an ankle pick but Garcia pulls his leg out and moves away.

Robles's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Garcia leaves Robles with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Garcia takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Robles moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Garcia wants to pass the guard but Robles is keeping the position.

Robles manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Garcia fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Robles sprawls well initially but Garcia persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Garcia has had enough of the clinch but Robles keeps him there for the moment.
Robles will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Garcia up against the cage.
Robles is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Garcia is defending well for now.

Robles changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Garcia fights it off and pushes away nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Garcia looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Garcia would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Robles shoots in and drives through. Garcia sprawls well.
And Garcia tries to counter it with a takedown but Robles pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Well Robles has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
