Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kumshot Chimaev (ranked 4924 p4p, 25366 weight class) and Austin Norris (ranked 488 p4p, 550 weight class). Austin Norris acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kumshot Chimaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Austin Norris!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Norris lands a high kick!

Chimaev forces Norris back against the cage and clinches.

Chimaev escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chimaev throws a sloppy head kick and Norris moves out of range easily.
Chimaev shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Norris defends it nicely.

Norris fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Chimaev has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Norris's coach down at Catch Wrestling L.A. was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Norris's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

and Norris counters with a low kick, right behind Chimaev 's knee.
Chimaev has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Norris.

We've been told by Chimaev's head coaches at ubergym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Norris gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Chimaev.
Chimaev can't find room to land a body shot as Norris controls the action.
Norris is trying to force a seperation but Chimaev has the dominant position.

Chimaev gets control of Norris's arms and successfully pulls guard. Chimaev will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Norris must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Chimaev has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Chimaev looking to hit a scissor sweep but Norris is one step ahead there.

Norris wants to stand and escape but instead Chimaev has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Chimaev sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Norris's guard.

Norris trying to hold on to Chimaev's head to control him but Chimaev postures up.
Norris is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Norris sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Chimaev is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Norris sees it coming and defends easily.
Norris is trying to get back to full guard.

That's time! Chimaev's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Norris fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Chimaev.
Norris takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Norris has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Chimaev fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Norris, pushing him back against the cage.
Norris looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Chimaev manages to break the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A kick lands to the mid section there for Norris.

Norris connects with a high kick.

Chimaev rushes Norris and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Norris misses with a hook from the clinch.

Chimaev jumps guard.

Chimaev had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Norris defends it easily.
Norris has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Chimaev is proving hard to escape from.
Norris trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Chimaev pulls Norris in close to prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chimaev has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chimaev is on top in guard.

Norris throws his legs up looking for a submission but Chimaev uses it to pass to side control.
Norris tries to control but Chimaev manages to take his back.
Kumshot Chimaev overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Chimaev just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Norris is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Norris really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chimaev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kumshot Chimaev will probably get the nod.

Norris throws a punch but it's blocked by Chimaev.
Chimaev blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Chimaev breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Norris counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Chimaev has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Norris avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Austin Norris comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
