PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Showtime Sitsongrit (ranked 1954 p4p, 1097 weight class) and Adam Barnes (ranked 262 p4p, 163 weight class). Sitsongrit kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is ศึกษานารี - LABANOON. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Showtime Sitsongrit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Barnes!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sitsongrit stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Barnes tries to keep at a distance but Sitsongrit has taken the fight into the clinch.
Barnes tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Sitsongrit tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Barnes just stands there and leans against the cage.
Sitsongrit lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Barnes gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Sitsongrit.
A frustrated look appears on Barnes's face as he tries to break the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Barnes is trying to break free.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnes wants to break the clinch but can't.
Sitsongrit is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Barnes pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Showtime Sitsongrit. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sitsongrit turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sitsongrit manages to end up in side control.
Sitsongrit remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Sitsongrit is looking to take a break and control but Barnes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Barnes tries to bench press Sitsongrit off him but Sitsongrit keeps the position.
Sitsongrit remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Barnes is looking for a sweep.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Barnes is trying to improve his position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Barnes manages to get back to half guard.
Sitsongrit is taking a breather. Barnes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Barnes wants to get back to full guard.

Sitsongrit is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Barnes is just riding it out for now. Sitsongrit eventually gives up the hold.

Sitsongrit is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Sitsongrit missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Sitsongrit has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Barnes is defending against the submission attempts here by Sitsongrit.
Sitsongrit prevents Barnes from improving his position.
Sitsongrit moves into full mount! Barnes won't be happy about that!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Barnes working to try and regain half guard.
Barnes sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Barnes has a hand on Sitsongrit's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Sitsongrit takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Barnes wants to hold on but Sitsongrit pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sitsongrit looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Barnes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sitsongrit. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Barnes keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Showtime Sitsongrit dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Sitsongrit throws a head kick that misses.
Sitsongrit looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Sitsongrit clinches up with Barnes and pushes him back against the cage.

Sitsongrit gets control of Barnes's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sitsongrit will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Sitsongrit manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Barnes manages to get himself to full guard.

Sitsongrit drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Sitsongrit as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Barnes screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Sitsongrit! Nice submission victory there!
