The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips shoots in looking for a takedown. Button tries to sprawl out of it but Phillips keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Button manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Phillips gets caught napping as Button dives in and scores a takedown. Phillips manages to retain guard.
Phillips looking to hit a scissor sweep but Button is one step ahead there.
Our spies down at at MMA Training and Sparring Buddies inform us that Phillips has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Button trying to control the position from guard on top but Phillips is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Phillips wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Button throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Phillips works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Phillips looking to hit a scissor sweep but Button is one step ahead there.
Phillips is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Phillips wants to lay and pray for a moment but Button keeps working.
