PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Kingsley (ranked 2864 p4p, 3003 weight class) and Maxwell Redmond (ranked 348 p4p, 357 weight class). Kingsley comes to the cage accompanied by Where the Streets Have No Name - U2. Maxwell Redmond will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Maxwell Redmond!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redmond lands with a nice body punch.
Kingsley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Redmond throws a jab when Kingsley was well out of range.
Kingsley avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Kingsley bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Redmond is not content to let Kingsley control the position.

Kingsley is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Redmond can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Redmond breaks Kingsley's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Kingsley takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

It looks like Ben Kingsley has been cut.
Redmond throws a lazy uppercut

and Kingsley decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Redmond's guard.

Redmond looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kingsley has picked Redmond up and slammed him! Redmond can't keep hold of the triangle and Kingsley manages to pass to side control!

Kingsley is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Redmond looks calm but he's in trouble here. Kingsley gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Redmond is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Kingsley lets go of the hold and Redmond can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ben Kingsley!
Ben Kingsley very nearly forgot to thank Island clothing lite amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
