PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ludko Struja Jr (ranked 1399 p4p, 2168 weight class) and Santino Cabal (ranked 219 p4p, 337 weight class). Struja Jr's entrance music is Wu-Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M.. A fine choice. Santino Cabal told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Struja Jr darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Struja Jr swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Struja Jr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cabal moves away.

and Cabal cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cabal throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Cabal scores with a sloppy right hand. Struja Jr should have avoided that one.
Struja Jr on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

No joy there for Struja Jr, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Santino Cabal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Struja Jr counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Struja Jr tries to bum rush Cabal with a series of wild strikes but Cabal uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Struja Jr takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Cabal connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Cabal lands a big uppercut and Struja Jr crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Struja Jr looks OK. Cabal waves Struja Jr back to his feet!

Struja Jr is rocked!
Cabal is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Struja Jr flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Struja Jr is out cold! Cabal holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Santino Cabal tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
