PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lui Mora (ranked 3307 p4p, 4481 weight class) and Outer Haven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lui Mora!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Outer Haven!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Chad Campbell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mora stuffs the takedown.
Haven shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mora as he avoids it easily.
Haven uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mora.
A little jabbing left from Haven on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Haven throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Haven changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mora tries to avoid it but Haven manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mora to the ground. Mora escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lui Mora has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Outer Haven.
Mora takes a swing at Haven's ribcage but misses.
Haven tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mora defends well and Haven ends up having to push Mora into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

and Mora counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Haven!

Haven tries to bench press Mora off him but Mora keeps the position.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

BOOM! Mora connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Haven really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mora. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Haven tries to lock up and control but Mora gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Mora lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Mora breaks from Haven's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Mora has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mora cracks Haven with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Mora takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mora seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Haven for as long as he can get away with.

A very excited looking Lui Mora rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
