The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tou has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Maverick.
Maverick thuds a left hand into Tou's body.

Tou bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Maverick's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Tou wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maverick keeps working.
Maverick tries to bench press Tou off him but Tou keeps the position.
Tou throws a strike aimed at the side of Maverick's head but Maverick avoids it well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Maverick lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tou circles away quickly and effectively.
Maverick cracks a nice hook into Tou's ribs.
Maverick buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Tou goes for a double leg but Maverick avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Maverick continues to drive forward.

Maverick presses Tou against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Tou has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Maverick clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Xigua Tou overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Maverick trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Maverick really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Tou's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.
Maverick is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Tou off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Maverick works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Oh Tou is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tou tries for a takedown but Maverick circles away easily
and Maverick counters with a big right hand! Oh Tou is in trouble here! Maverick follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Daniel Maverick spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
